Both pool and spa were raised 6″ above the patio to create a striking architectural feature covered in glass tile. This perimeter overflow pool is all about reflection and having the spa flow into this pool would ruin that effect. The spa was placed lower then the pool for many reasons. First was to eliminate ruining the reflection effect. Second, was to work with the grade changes in the yard and also to create more privacy. Landscaping was also done to create privacy. The view from inside the spa is right above eyelevel with the pool’s reflective surface. The spa location also provided better access to the master bedroom and a nice focal point out of the bedroom windows. The only water feature of the project flows out of the raised wall into the spa creating a great visual and sound. The water feature can be turned off to create the reflective surface on both the pool and spa surfaces. The large fire glass fills the channels between the limestone slabs that span over the hidden vanishing edge basin tank. The glass blends with the vanishing edge glass beam. The large fire bowl glass blends with all other glass details as well. The fire bowl provides a focal point and warming area from the spa back to the house. Separate equipment and heater allow full control of the spa from the pool. The materials a combination of Splitface Silver Travertine Wall Veneer with glass tile, and Smoke Lueder’s Limestone to create the transitional style that fits with this home and setting.
