This architectural gem of a pool was a combination of efforts between multiple engineers, home architect, home builder and the experts at our company. The challenge of the project stems from the fact that the home owner wanted the water to come “all the way” to the edge of the home. The only solution was to actually place the homes slab on top of the pool shell on one side and tie the two projects engineering together so that they would function as one whole. We began by having all of the home and pools piers poured at the same time and then we stepped in to complete the steel, plumbing and shotcrete of the pool as well as adding multiple waterproofing and water stop safeguards so that it would not cause an issue ever with the home. Once that was completed, they homebuilder finished their home slab and tied it into our existing shotcrete. After 12 months of home construction, we jumped back on the job and completed the rest of the pool. The result is a stunning straight line pool that draws from the architecture of the home while having great views from every part of the home. One unique challenge was that the home owner did not want to see any drains on the deck and with over 4000 square feet of porcelain pavers, it was going to be tough! The solution was to develop a system of slot drains placed under certain joints of the pavers and then leaving the gaps between the tiles to allow water to seep through and into our underground drains. The client was blown away with the results!
