FAQs

My pool or spa light stopped working
The first thing to check is the breaker/breakers associated to the lights. There could also be a GFCI type plug that may have been tripped. This is usually near the pool equipment. Reset if they tripped to the off position. If it does not reset or continues to happen often then we recommend submitting a service repair request
My spa keeps draining overnight
Since the spa water level is higher than the pool level, we install water check valves at the pool equipment to equalize the pressure and prevent the water spa water displacing to the pool when the pool equipment is off. These check valves are a maintenance item and should be inspected periodically and replaced if they start to fail.
My pool turns off every time we get a heavy rain
The pool pump motor has vent holes to prevent the motor from overheating. Sometimes the equipment area may be flooding, or the house gutters need to be cleaned so water from the roof gets displaced properly. Usually the breaker does what it is designed to do and trips to the off position. Once the moisture dissipates in the motor the breaker will be able to be reset and pump operates properly again. It is possible to purchase a motor cover at our retail store if it becomes a persistent problem.
How long should I be running my pool?
The type of main pump you have will be a primary factor on how long you should be circulating the main body of water. If you have a variable speed pump, we recommend running it 22 hours daily all year knowing the rpms are set to a moderate speed. If you have a single speed pump, we recommend running the pump at least 1 hour for every 10 degrees of air temperature. Therefore, adjust based on the average temperature as the seasons change.
The main pump is not priming
The primary cause for a pump not priming properly is air getting introduced to the suction side of the pool equipment. The most common reason is the pump lid. With the pool system turned off. Remove the pump lid, empty the strainer basket, inspect and lubricate the pump lid O-ring, pour approximately 5 gallons of water in pump strainer pot, secure the pump lid back to the pump, turn system on and let the pump self-prime for 10-15 minutes. If you are not successful and you know the pool water level is above the skimmers you will need to submit a service repair request.
My pool is not circulating
There are several factors that could be the cause. (1) The main pump has power but is not fully priming (2) The run schedule could have been changed (3) The breaker tripped and needs to be reset (4) Motor capacitor or motor has gone bad and requires replacement
